•  Where can I secure accommodation for my stay in Jamaica?

The Conference will be held at the Holiday Inn Resort in Montego Bay. For details regarding accommodation options, please visit our Accommodation page: 

•  Are travel grants available for participation in the Conference?

Unfortunately, SALISES is not able to offer travel grants to participants. However, we will continue to engage partners and sponsors to identify opportunities for funding. Should any of these opportunities become available, we will post the information on this page.

•  In what format should my full paper be submitted?

The full paper should be approximately 5,000 to 10,000 words. Persons who wish to have their papers published in the Institute’s journal, Social and Economic Studies should follow the following guidelines: If not, authors are free to use any referencing style; for readability we would prefer the use of double spacing and a 12pt font. Papers should be submitted in an editable format (DOC, DOCX).

•  How long should oral presentations be?

Each individual presentation should be a maximum of 15 minutes long.

•  What transportation services are available?

It is recommended that participants seek to arrive in Montego Bay at the Sangster International Airport. There are approved taxi operators at the Sangster International Airport who will arrange transfer to your hotel, which is located approximately 10 minutes away from the airport. Please look for the JUTA desk and JUTA Dispatcher at the airport.

If you must arrive at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, an executive bus service is available for a four hour drive to Montego Bay. You will then have to make arrangements for transportation to your hotel.

•  What does the registration package include?

We have communicated with all persons who will receive a full conference package. This includes access to all plenary presentations, conference sessions, receptions, programme, nametag, stationary and other materials. Participants who have registered for all 3 days will receive a Conference band which will allow them access to meals on all three days. Persons registered for individual days will receive a similar band which will allow them access to meals on those days.

•  Will language support be provided for persons who are not comfortable communicating in English?

The operating language of the Conference is English. We do not have dedicated foreign language or sign language interpretation services. However, if you are unable to communicate effectively in spoken English, please contact the planning committee to discuss your participation.

Jamaica's legal tender is the Jamaican Dollar (JMD), which has a floating exchange rate. For prevailing exchange rates, visit: .

US Dollars, Canadian Dollars, Euros and British Pounds are changed easily at most banks and cambios, or at your hotel. US Dollars are accepted at some merchants.
